Above ground headstones and monuments are permitted. Foundations for headstones will be set by Township employees for which a charge shall be made.
No foundations will be set between November 15 and April 1.
Cut flowers are permitted at any time. Artificial flowers are permitted at any time if attached to headstones in such a manner as to permit mowing and trimming. Other artificial decorations may be placed only one week before Easter, Memorial Day, and Fourth of July and must be removed one week after the holiday. Winter decorations will be allowed November 1 to the end of February.
Decorations left after the end of February will be removed.
For your convenience, Catawba Island Township, in cooperation with Barnes Nursery and Crosser Monument Company, has established a memorial tree program. Now you can select a tree to be planted as a living memorial and personalize a marker to honor your loved one in our cemetery.
Barnes Nursery recommends shade trees such as Skyline Locust, Greenspire Linden and Maple varieties as well as ornamental trees including Crusader Hawthorn, Winter King Hawthorn and Crabapple varieties. All trees will have a 2" trunk diameter. The actual site and tree variety selection will be subject to Catawba Island Township Trustee approval. The cost for this living memorial is $250, plus tax, for the tree including labor. Variations could affect pricing.
Crosser Monument Company can create a bronze memorial marker for your tree. The 8" X 6" bronze plaque will be mounted into a flush concrete pad at the base of the tree. This size marker will allow for 48 letters of script. Cost of the 8" X 6" bronze marker is $168, plus tax.
