Catawba Island Township Board of Township Trustees

Chairman Gary Mortus called the Public Hearing to order on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. in the conference room of the administration building.
In attendance were Gary Mortus, Matt Montowski, William Rofkar, Karen Shaw,
John Gangway, Dan Barlow, Diane Belden, Mike Weickert, Darlene Kimball,
Jeff Reitzel, Nick Gerber, Randy Riedmaier, and Jack DeVore.
Gary Mortus briefly explained application 544628, a rezoning request from Scott Keils who owns both parcels 1894 and 1906 NW Catawba Road. The request is to rezone
1894 NW Catawba Road from R-1 to R-2. The parcels, which abut each other, collectively are approximately one acre.
Gary Mortus said the Catawba Island Land use Plan recommends medium density for 1894 NW Catawba Road. Medium density is characterized as no more than two to three structures per acre. He said the Ottawa Regional Planning Commission heard the request on January 15 and recommended the request be approved.
Gary Mortus said on January 23 the Zoning Commission heard the request and by unanimous action approved the recommendation of the rezoning.
Gary Mortus asked for input by the applicant or anyone present. It was noted the applicant was not present and there was no further discussion or opposition by anyone in attendance.
Matt Montowski made a motion to close the public discussion. William Rofkar seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.
Trustees discussed the request briefly.
Matt Montowski made a motion to approve application 544628 as applied for. William Rofkar seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.
William Rofkar made a motion to adjourn the Public Hearing. Matt Montowski seconded the motion. All voted aye. The meeting was adjourned at 7:36 p.m.
