MINUTES OF THE CATAWBA ISLAND BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS
November 12, 2014
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Chairman Bryan Baugh called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Board members in attendance were Bryan Baugh, Doug Blackburn, Sandy Erwin, and Jack DeVore. Chairman Baugh requested alternate member Jack Zeigler replace Tom Anslow on the Board. Shelly Stively, alternate member, was also in attendance. Walter Wehenkel, Township Zoning Inspector, and Matt Montowski, Township Trustee were introduced. Mr. Baugh stated that he would not recite the procedure to be followed for the meeting as there were no cases to discuss.
Approval of Minutes
Doug Blackburn moved to approve the minutes of the October 8, 2014 meeting of the Board. As mailed. Jack DeVore seconded the motion. The motion was passed.
Bryan Baugh stated he attended the Zoning Commission meeting held on November 5th at which time the Quinstock Farms rezoning request was reviewed. Mr. Baugh reported that the Zoning Commission recommended approval of the rezoning request and that the Trustees will hold their hearing on November 25th.
Assuming the rezoning request is approved, Quinstock will file a request for a conditional use for a tavern/restaurant that the Board will consider. Mr. Wehenkel briefly described the process for the Board to consider a conditional use request. He reminded the Board that they have the authority to establish specific conditions they feel are appropriate for a conditional use. A general discussion followed.
Sandra Erwin moved to adjourn the meeting. Her motion was seconded by Jack Zeigler. The meeting was adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
Jack DeVore noted he would not be in attendance at the December 10th meeting.
