Catawba Island Township Board of Township Trustees

The regular business meeting of the Catawba Island Board of Township Trustees was called to order by Chairman Gary Mortus on Tuesday, June 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the conference room.
In attendance were Gary Mortus, Matt Montowski, William Rofkar, Karen Shaw,
John Gangway, Ernest Wylie, Jayce Kennedy, Garrett Hirt, Randy Riedmaier, and
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all.
William Rofkar made a motion to approve the June 9 Board of Trustees regular meeting minutes as presented. Matt Montowski seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.
Matt Montowski made a motion to approve and pay the bills, including the last payroll, in the amount of $96,072.14. The total includes a payment of $45,432 to Hylant Administrative Services for property and liability insurance. William Rofkar seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.
The following correspondence was received by the township:
Notification of the Ottawa County Township Association Quarterly Meeting to be hosted by Put In Bay Township Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at the Niagara Event Center, Put In Bay.
An invitation to the 50th Anniversary Celebration of Ken Gill Construction Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Waterworks Park, Port Clinton.
An invitation from the Ohio Utilities Protection Service to attend the 2015 Annual Trustee Reception and Meeting mid August in Youngstown, Ohio.
Gary Mortus presented quotes from Gill Construction $3,927.98 and Fox Contractors $4,840 to repair the storm sewer located at the corner of Weyhe and Northwest Catawba Roads.
Gary Mortus made a motion to contract with Gill Construction at a cost of $3,927.98 for the storm sewer repairs. Matt Montowski seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.
Matt Montowski said he talked to the zoning inspector regarding the 5279 Charles Lane property complaint and at the present time there is no action the township can take. The zoning inspector provided a follow up letter which will be forwarded to the Ballard Homeowners Association.
Matt Montowski made a motion to renew with Hylant Administrative Services and Ohio Plan Risk Management, Inc. for township property and liability insurance for the year June 15, 2015 through June 15, 2016 in the amount of $45,432. William Rofkar seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.
Matt Montowski made a motion to approve a Then and Now Purchase Order to Hylant Administrative Services in the amount of $45,432 for the Ohio Plan Policy Premium less the Advantage Credit. William Rofkar seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.
Matt Montowski said he was approached by Denny Stacy inquiring if the Trustees would be interested in purchasing additional property across from Orchard Isle as an access point to the Cedar Meadows Preserve.
The Trustees agreed they are not interested in purchasing the property at this time as there is already an access point to the preserve.
William Rofkar made a motion to participate in Ohio’s Online Checkbook. Matt Montowski seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.
Matt Montowski made a motion to adjourn the meeting. William Rofkar seconded the motion. All voted aye. The meeting adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
