William Rofkar called the public hearing in regard to Application #059120 at 7:00p.m. on May 13, 2008 in the conference room. Present were William Rofkar, Gary Mortus, Pat Cerny, Robert Snyder, William Vandergiessen, Peter Weimer and Jack DeVore. William Rofkar stated this is a request for rezoning from the R-4 District to the R-E District from Lost Lake Development and Catawba Bay Builders.
The property is located in Section 3, Lot 1 of Catawba Island Township at the end of Muggy Road off of Lost Lake Drive. The parcel contains 13.2 acres and the land is to be used as a planned unit development. Ottawa County Regional Planning Commission recommended approval of the rezoning request as the Land Use Plan recommends this area for high density recreational commercial development. The Catawba Island Township Zoning Commission recommended approval of the request to the township Trustees. Robert Snyder stated a PUD is already in place at Catawba Bay and the developers have purchased the Walls property. This may be a separate PUD or combine it with the existing PUD. It will be a combination of condominiums and single-family homes. Pete Weimer presented a preliminary drawing. Utilities are adequate and there would be 240 units total on both sites. The developers stated they are having second thoughts about rezoning to R-E. Gary Mortus made a motion to continue application #059120 until June 24, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. seconded by William Rofkar. Motion carried unanimously. Gary Mortus made a motion to adjourn the zoning hearing seconded by William Rofkar at 7:25 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.
