Minutes: April 11th, 2017

Catawba Island Township Board of Township Trustees

Public Hearing

April 11, 2017

Trustee Chairman Matt Montowski called the Public Hearing to order Tuesday, April 11, at
7:30 p.m. in the conference room of the administration building.

In attendance were Trustees: Gary Mortus, William Rofkar, and Matt Montowski
and Zoning Inspector Todd Bickley

Also in attendance were: John Gangway, Dan Barlow, Kevin Wylie, Ernest Wylie,
Edward Spitler, Theresa Spitler, Quintin Smith, Diane Belden, Randy Riedmaier, Jack DeVore and Craig Koerpel

Matt Montowski said application #008767 submitted by Quinstock Farms LLC is for a proposed rezoning request for a parcel containing 2.0 acres of land from the “A” Residential Low Density District to the “R-2” Residential District. The property is known as 3698 NE Catawba Road.

Matt Montowski said the Catawba Island Township Zoning Commission met March 15, 2017 and recommended approval of the rezoning request from “A” Residential Low Density to “R-2” Residential.

William Rofkar read a letter from the Ottawa Regional Planning Commission. The Commission met February 21, 2017 and heard the request initiated by Quinstock Farms LLC to rezone a parcel of land from “A” Residential Low Density to “R-2” Residential. The owner would like to create a lot split off of the two acre parcel and move a house that is across the street onto the new lot. The adjoining parcels are as follows: The parcel located to the south is vacant land and a roadside stand and is zoned “C-1” Neighborhood Commercial. The parcel located to the east across West Catawba Road is vacant land and a single family home zoned “A” Residential Low Density. The parcel to the west is vacant land and is zoned “C-1” Neighborhood Commercial and “A” Residential Low Density. The current land use plan calls for low density residential in the area. The Ottawa Regional Planning Commission voted to recommend approval of the rezoning request.

Quintin Smith said he is considering splitting the lot and moving the house across the street if it is economically feasible.

Gary Mortus made a motion to approve application #008767 as presented and recommended by the Catawba Island Zoning Commission. William Rofkar seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.

William Rofkar made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Gary Mortus seconded the motion. All voted aye. The meeting adjourned at 7:38 p.m.
