Minutes: April 9th, 2003

The regular meeting of the Catawba Island Township Board of Zoning Appeals was held on April 9, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. in the conference room. Present: Dale VanLerberghe, Jenine Porter, Bob Gibbons, Bryan Baugh, Tom Anslow, Tom Owens, John Just, Dave King, Richard Talbert and Pat Cerny. The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance led by chairperson Dale VanLerberghe. Dale then introduced the Board, swore in all that wish to speak and explained the meeting procedures.

Case #7502---Thomas Owens, 1601 N. Compass, R-4. This case is being continued from the last meeting in March. Bryan Baugh made a motion to remove the case from the table, Jenine Porter, second. All voted aye. The request was for a rear yard set back of 5 feet in lieu of the required 35 feet. Mr. Owens stated he placed the flags in the proper places on the parcel. Tom Anslow stated the parcel is well marked out. Bryan Baugh made a motion to approve the request, Tom Anslow second the motion. Bryan, yes; Tom, yes to approve; Jenine, yes to approve; Bob, yes to approve; Dale, yes to approve.

Case #7512 – Norm King – 1521 N. Anchor – R-4 – New home will be 9 feet from the right of way in lieu of the required 35 feet. There was correspondence from three adjoining property owners with no objection to the request; Tom and Carol Kubit, Charles Gunn and Joan and Charles Jenkins. The parcel was surveyed. Dale asked if the accessory structure is going to remain and Mr. King replied yes. Pat Cerny stated the structure is grandfathered in. Bryan had a question on the stoop on the channel side. The drawing shows an arc and it looks like 3 feet. John Just stated he feels the arc is confusing and would rather use straight lines. Bryan Baugh made a motion to approve 7512 as presented. Bob Gibbons second the motion. Bryan Baugh, yes to approve; Bob Gibbons, yes to approve; Tom Anslow, yes to approve; Jenine, yes to approve; Dale VanLerberghe, yes to approve.

The minutes of the March 12 meeting were read as presented. Jenine Porter made a motion to accept the
