Meeting Minutes

February 8, 2022

The regular business meeting of the Catawba Island Board of Township Trustees was called to order by Chairman William Rofkar on Tuesday, February 8, at 6:00 p.m. in the conference room of the administration building.

In attendance were: Diane Belden, William Rofkar, Matt Montowski, Karen Shaw,
John Gangway, Dan Barlow, Jack Madison, Heidi Cline, David Howell, Paul Leidorf,
Craig Graham, Dorothy Baker, William Baker, and Randy Riedmaier.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all.

Diane Belden made a motion to approve the January 25, 2022 Board of Trustees regular meeting minutes as presented. Matt Montowski seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.

Matt Montowski made a motion to approve and pay the bills, including the payroll, in the amount of $39,679.77. Diane Belden seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.

Correspondence

A written request from Kevin Johnson to use the Community Hall for a bereavement meal Tuesday, February 1, and for a family gathering on Saturday, February 19.

Trustees agreed Kevin Johnson could use the Community Hall and waived the rental fee.

A written request from the Catawba Island Club to use the Community Hall parking lot for four weekends in 2022. It was noted there are two dates the hall is already rented.

Trustees agreed the Catawba Island Club could use the Community Hall for parking April 29-30, May 28-30, July 1-4, and September 4-5 and set the total fee at $1,200.

Fiscal

Fiscal Officer Karen Shaw presented the January 2022 financial reports.

Maintenance

William Rofkar said maintenance personnel ran twelve hour shifts during the snow storm. He said they need to replace two tires and one rim due to landscaping rocks encountered at Gem Beach that were buried in the snow.

William Rofkar said the maintenance department will take delivery of 75 tons of salt in the coming week and have another 75 ton still available to order for the 2022 winter season.

Matt Montowski said The Orchard Bar & Table provided a meal Friday afternoon for maintenance personnel who had been working to clear the roads and their generosity was appreciated.

Fire

Diane Belden said Catawba Island Volunteer Fire Department members responded to 4 fire calls and 13 EMS calls as well as two ice rescues in the month of January for a total of 19 calls.


New Business

Matt Montowski made a motion to participate in the Ottawa County Engineer’s Road Striping Program for 2022 and stripe the roads as listed below. Diane Belden seconded the motion.
All voted aye. Motion Carried.
