Catawba Island Township Board of Township Trustees

Meeting Minutes

December 10, 2013


The regular business meeting of the Catawba Island Board of Township Trustees was called to order by Chairman Gary Mortus on Tuesday, December 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the conference room.

In attendance were Gary Mortus, Matt Montowski, William Rofkar, Karen Shaw, Dan Barlow, John Gangway, Randy Riedmaier, and Reggie Langford.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all.

Matt Montowski made a motion to approve the November 26 Board of Township Trustees regular meeting minutes as presented. William Rofkar seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.

William Rofkar made a motion to approve and pay the bills, including the last payroll, in the amount of $45,174.05. The total includes CIVFD member annual stipends and fuel reimbursements totaling $7,375. Matt Montowski seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.


Correspondence

The following correspondence was received by the township:

A memo from Joe Gerber of the Ottawa Regional Planning Commission regarding Replat of Lots 13 and 14, West Catawba Lagoons, Plat 1. The plat will be presented at the December Planning Commission meeting.

A letter from Beck Suppliers requesting an update to the Exemption Certificate for purchase of gasoline and diesel fuel for 2014.


Fiscal

Fiscal Officer Karen Shaw presented the November financial reports and bank reconciliation. There were no questions or concerns.


Fire and Safety

Fire Chief John Gangway said ambulance 27 has some rust spots. He said they took it to eight different body shops but only Fitzgerald’s in Sandusky gave them a tentative repair price of $1,725.

The Trustees agreed repairs to ambulance 27 should be made with cost not to exceed $2,500.



Maintenance

Maintenance Supervisor Dan Barlow asked if maintenance personnel could work if necessary Saturday morning to help with the ceremony at the cemetery.

Trustees agreed maintenance personnel could work as needed for the ceremony.

A brief discussion took place regarding the need for carpet in the administrative building.
Dan Barlow agreed to get samples and a quote from Young’s Flooring to further discuss at a future meeting.


Zoning

Matt Montowski said there were a total of fourteen permits and no variances issued for the month of November with a total of $627.28 collected in fees.


New Business

Reggie Langford gave an update on the final plans for the Wreaths Across America Ceremony scheduled for December 14. He said the wreaths have been delivered. Reggie Langford thanked Dan Barlow and maintenance personnel for all their help with the project.

Matt Montowski made a motion to adjourn the meeting. William Rofkar seconded the motion.
All voted aye. The meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
