Catawba Island Township Board of Township Trustees

Meeting Minutes

March 22, 2016

The regular business meeting of the Catawba Island Board of Township Trustees was called to order by Chairman William Rofkar on Tuesday, March 22, at 7:30 p.m. in the conference room.

In attendance were: William Rofkar, Gary Mortus, Matt Montowski, John Gangway,
Dan Barlow, Richard Smetzer, Randy Riedmaier, and Jack DeVore

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all.

Gary Mortus made a motion to approve the March 8 Board of Township Trustees regular meeting minutes as presented. Matt Montowski seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.

Matt Montowski made a motion to approve and pay the bills, including the last payroll, in the amount of $47,250.62. Gary Mortus seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.

Correspondence

The following correspondence was received by the township:

A letter from the Ottawa County Improvement Corporation announcing Jim Stouffer, President & CEO of Catawba Island Club, received the OCIC’s Bill Mack Business Leader award at their annual Business & Industry Awards Dinner held recently.

A request from James Stewart to use the Community Hall for a family event on June 5, 2016.

The Trustees agreed James Stewart could use the Community Hall and waived the fee.

A letter from the Department of Commerce Division of Liquor Control notifying the legislative authority they have the right to object to the renewal of a permit to sell alcohol in the political subdivision and to request a hearing if so desired.

Gary Mortus made a motion to waive a hearing for all 2016 renewal applications for permits to sell alcoholic beverages in the township. Matt Montowski seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.

A letter from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency regarding the township compost facility and 2015 Compost Facility Annual Report. The communication was to notify Trustees the Ohio EPA has no comments and no further action is necessary at this time.

A letter from the Ottawa Regional Planning Commission regarding a request from David and Jacqueline Jasinski to rezone their parcel at 3080 N. Tiara Drive from “C-2” to “R-2”. The property is currently vacant, however the owners would like to build a single family home. The Commission voted to recommend approval of the rezoning request.


Maintenance

Maintenance Supervisor Dan Barlow said he would like to purchase two tires for the Gator for approximately $200.

The Trustees agreed to the purchase of two tires for the Gator from Tri County Tire.

New Business

Trustees agreed to the purchase of a new printer and high yield toner cartridge for the police department not to exceed $250.

Trustees approved repairs to the camera in one of the police Crown Victoria vehicles per provided estimate from WatchGuard Video for $542.

Matt Montowski made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Gary Mortus seconded the motion. All voted aye. The meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
