and Zoning Inspector Todd Bickley

Also in attendance were: John Gangway, Dan Barlow, Kevin Wylie, Ernest Wylie,
Edward Spitler, Theresa Spitler, Quintin Smith, Diane Belden, Randy Riedmaier, Jack DeVore and Craig Koerpel

Matt Montowski said application #008768 submitted by Quinstock Farms LLC is for a proposed rezoning request for the rear 430 feet of property known as 3691 NE Catawba Road from the “A” Residential Low Density District to the “R-4” Residential District.

Gary Mortus read a letter from the Ottawa Regional Planning Commission. The Commission met February 21, 2017 and heard the request initiated by Quinstock Farms LLC to rezone a parcel of land from “A” Residential Low Density to “R-4” Residential. The owner would like to split two buildable lots on the water front and keep the balance of the land zoned “A”. The adjoining parcels are as follows: The parcel located to the south is Catawba Shores Mobile Home Park and is zoned “C-3” Highway Commercial. The parcel located to the west across West Catawba Road is vacant land and a single family home zoned “A” Residential Low Density and “C-1” Neighborhood Commercial. The parcel to the north consists of a single family home and is zoned “A” Residential Low Density. The current land use plan calls for medium density residential in the area. The Ottawa Regional Planning Commission voted to recommend approval of the rezoning request.

Matt Montowski said the Catawba Island Township Zoning Commission met March 15, 2017 and heard the rezoning request for “A” Residential Low Density to “R-4” Residential. He said the Zoning Commission voted to recommend to the Trustees the modification of application #008768 from the “R-4” Residential District to the “R-3” Residential District.

Quintin Smith said there is currently a house located on the property and he would like to split the lot and build another house on the water.

William Rofkar made a motion to approve application #008768 as modified and recommended by the Catawba Island Zoning Commission from “A” Residential Low Density to “R-3” Residential District. Gary Mortus seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.

Gary Mortus made a motion to adjourn the meeting. William Rofkar seconded the motion. All voted aye. The meeting adjourned at 7:48 p.m.
