Meeting Minutes

April 11, 2017

The regular business meeting of the Catawba Island Board of Township Trustees was called to order by Chairman Matt Montowski Tuesday, April 11, at 7:50 p.m. in the conference room.

In attendance were Gary Mortus, Matt Montowski, William Rofkar, John Gangway,
Dan Barlow, Kevin Wylie, Ernest Wylie, Edward Spitler, Theresa Spitler, Quintin Smith,
Diane Belden, Randy Riedmaier, Jack DeVore and Craig Koerpel

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all.

Gary Mortus made a motion to approve the March 28, 2017 Board of Township Trustees regular meeting minutes as presented. William Rofkar seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.

William Rofkar made a motion to approve and pay the bills, including the last payroll, in the amount of $52,901.07. Gary Mortus seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.

Correspondence

An invitation from the Area Office on Aging of NW Ohio to the 2017 Annual Legislative and Education Breakfast Monday, May 8, 2017.

Fiscal

The March 2017 financial reports and bank reconciliation were reviewed. There were no questions or concerns.

Maintenance

Maintenance Supervisor Dan Barlow presented a proposal from Edwards Tree Service and Landclearing, Inc. for $6,640 to clear the walking trail at the township park near the entrance to the Catawba Cliffs.

William Rofkar made a motion to contract with Edwards Tree Service and Landclearing, Inc. for $6,640 to clear the walking trail at the nature preserve on NW Catawba Road per provided quote. Gary Mortus seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.

Fire

Fire Chief Kevin Wylie said he would like to send Jordan Davenport to the FDIC training. He said Jordan Davenport needs instructor hours and cost of the class would be $640 plus hotel expense for a total $953.56.

Trustees approved the fire department training expense as requested.

Kevin Wylie said the ladders will be tested next week as part of the annual inspection process.

Zoning

Matt Montowski said there were nine permits issued in March with a total of $516.54 collected in fees.

New Business

Craig Koerpel spoke briefly about the progress of the newly formed Catawba Island Historical Society.

William Rofkar made motion to approve a donation of $3,500 to the Ottawa County Drug Task Force. Gary Mortus seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.

Gary Mortus made a motion to adjourn the meeting. William Rofkar seconded the motion. All voted aye. The meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
