Meeting Minutes

February 13, 2018

The regular business meeting of the Catawba Island Board of Township Trustees was called to order by Chairman Gary Mortus on Tuesday, February 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the conference room.

In attendance were Gary Mortus, Matt Montowski, Karen Shaw, Dan Barlow, John Gangway, Kevin Wylie, Allen Stryker, Rick Smetzer, Randy Riedmaier, and Jack DeVore.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all.

Matt Montowski made a motion to approve the January 23, 2018 Board of Trustees regular meeting minutes as presented. Gary Mortus seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.

Matt Montowski made a motion to approve and pay the bills, including the payroll, in the amount of $64,393.65. Gary Mortus seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.

Correspondence

A letter from Ottawa County Prosecuting Attorney James VanEerten and Ottawa County Sheriff Stephen Levorchick regarding the Ottawa County Drug Task Force Funding and requesting a contribution proportionate to the population in our political subdivision.

A letter from the Ottawa County Board of Elections regarding the Primary Election scheduled for Tuesday, May 8, 2018, and setup for the Community Hall polling location.

A letter from the Ottawa County Wreath Committee regarding the multi-year plan for bringing Wreaths Across American to Ottawa County cemetery locations.

A letter from Marilyn Lisowski expressing concern with regard to trash disposal at 4095 N. Crogan Road.

Matt Montowski said the zoning inspector followed up with the property owners and the issue has been addressed.

Fiscal

Fiscal Officer Karen Shaw presented the January 2018 financial reports and bank reconciliation. There were no questions or concerns.

Karen Shaw said the Annual Financial Report has been submitted for the year ending December 31, 2017, and notification was sent to The Beacon for publication.



Police

Police Chief John Gangway presented quotes for a 2018 Ford Utility police vehicle from Statewide Ford Lincoln for $35,276 and an In-Car Camera System from Watch Guard for the new vehicle for $4,770.

Matt Montowski made a motion to contract with Statewide Ford for a 2018 Ford Utility Police vehicle at a cost of $35,276 and Watch Guard for an In-Car Camera System for $4,770, both at the state bid purchasing program price. Gary Mortus seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.

Maintenance

Maintenance Supervisor Dan Barlow presented a quote from Rexel Energy Solutions for a 25 foot adjustable electric light pole for $1,613.96 and a quote from Stively Electric for installation of the pole for $750. Dan Barlow said the new light pole is to be installed outside the police station in the parking lot to improve visibility.

Matt Montowski made a motion to contract with Rexel Energy for the light pole at a cost of $1,613.96 and with Stively Electric for installation of the light pole for $750. Gary Mortus seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.

Zoning

Matt Montowski said there were three zoning permits, two variances, and one map amendment issued in January with a total of $884.72 collected in fees.

New Business

Gary Mortus made a motion to contract with Ohio Insurance Services for third party administration and claims administrator services at a fee of $7 per covered employee per month. Matt Montowski seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.

Matt Montowski made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Gary Mortus seconded the motion. All voted aye. The meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
