Memorial Tree Program

For your convenience, Catawba Island Township, in cooperation with Barnes Nursery has established a memorial tree program. A tree can be selected and planted in the cemetery as a living memorial and a personalized marker placed at the base of the tree to honor your loved one.

Barnes Nursery recommends shade trees such as Skyline Locust, Greenspire Linden and Maple varieties as well as ornamental trees including Crusader Hawthorn, Winter King Hawthorn and Crabapple varieties. The actual site and tree variety selection will be subject to Catawba Island Township Trustee approval. Variations in tree and size will determine pricing.

To order a living memorial tree from Barnes Nursery visit Jen Cook, General Manager, at 3511 Cleveland Road W. in Huron or call 419-433-5525. For ideas, stop by their Catawba location at 1283 N.E. Catawba Road in Port Clinton.

A local monument company will create a bronze memorial marker for your tree. An 8″ X 6″ bronze plaque will be mounted into a flush concrete pad at the base of the tree. This size marker will allow for 48 letters of script.

The 8″ X 6″ bronze memorial marker can be ordered for an additional fee through Chris DeTray at Crosser Monument Company, 1124 Fulton Street in Port Clinton at 419-732-3141 or by contacting Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington Street in Port Clinton at 419-732-3121.

For more information about this program call Catawba Island Township at 419-797-4131.
