Special Meeting

October 25, 2024

A special meeting of the Board of Trustees was called to order by Chairman Diane Belden on Friday, October 25, at 9:00 a.m. in the conference room of the administration building.  The purpose of the meeting was to meet with Police Chief John Gangway to discuss hiring of a new police officer.

In attendance were:  Diane Belden, Matt Montowski, William Rofkar, Shelly Garcia, John Gangway and James Stewart.

Chief Gangway stated that he found someone that he would like to hire as a full-time officer.  He stated Jeremy Danklefsen was a previous part time officer for the township in 2019 and would be a good fit for the department.  He stated that with his previous employment with the township he would be able to get up to speed pretty easily.  He requested the special meeting due to the fact that the next trustee meeting isn’t for another three weeks and he would like to be able to get Mr. Danklefsen in as soon as possible if this request were approved.

All the trustees agreed that the department needs another full-time officer and agreed that Mr. Danklefsen would be an asset to the CIT Police Department.

Diane Belden made a motion to approve Jeremy Danklefsen as a full-time officer with full benefit package and a start date of November 4, 2024.  Starting wage of $26/hour with an increase to $28/hour after six months and then to $30/hour after one year.  Matt Montowski seconded this motion.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.

There was then a motion by Matt Montowski to enter into Executive Session.  William Rofkar seconded the motion.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.  Pursuant to Ohio Revised Code section 121.22(G)(2).

“To consider the appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion, or compensation of a public employee or official, or the investigation of charges or complaints against a public employee, official, licensee, or regulated individual, unless the public employee, official, licensee, or regulated individual requests a public hearing.”

Roll call conducted:  Matt Montowski-yes, William Rofkar-yes, Diane Belden-yes.

Matt Montowski made a motion to come out of Executive Session.  William Rofkar seconded the motion.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.

Matt Montowski made a motion to adjourn the meeting.  William Rofkar seconded the motion.

All voted aye.  The meeting adjourned at 9:39 a.m.
