Catawba Island Township Park Board
Meeting Minutes for April 16, 2025

Call to Order:

The meeting was called to order at 6:05 P.M.

People Present:

Brad Schwan, Brian Washburn, Vicki Wheatley, Jack Madison arrived at 6:42 P.M.
Guests: Matt Montowski, William Baker

Reading/Approval of Minutes:

The minutes from March 19, 2025 were read and approved.

Items Discussed:

Park District of Ottawa County grant funding:

Vicki Wheatley made a motion to make a recommendation to the Trustees to accept the proposal from Jack Madison but the trail reduced
from 10 feet to 5 feet.

No second was made.

A new motion was made by Brad Schwan to make a recommendation to the Trustees to accept the Park District of Ottawa County grant funding to be used to increase the parking lot without a trail.

A second was made by Brian Washburn, the motion carried.

 

Kiosk:

Brad Schwan has handed the draft off to the design team who will then hand it off to Jerry Davenport.

Catawba Island Township Speaker Series:

Our first speaker will be held on June 25 at 6:00. Our speaker is Jamie Kochensparger The presentation will be Nature from the Ground Up (soils, geology, water, gardening).

Brainstorming on marketing our events took place.

Decisions Made:

Recommend to the Trustees – to accept the Park District of Ottawa County grant funding to be used to increase the parking lot without a trail.

Weather permitting, our May 21, 2025 Parks Board meeting will take place as a walkthrough of Cedar Meadow. We will start at the Administration Building at 6:00 P.M.
