Catawba Island Township Park Board
Meeting Minutes for December 17, 2025
Call to Order:
The meeting was called to order at 6:00 P.M.
People Present:
Jack Madison, Brian Washburn, Vicki Wheatley, Brad Schwan
Guest: Matt Montowski
Reading/Approval of Minutes:
The minutes from November19, 2025 were read. Jack Madison made the motion to approve, Brian Washburn seconded. Minutes unanimously approved.
Items Discussed:
Meeting dates for 2026 were reviewed and approved.
OLD BUSINESS:
One of the two dry erase boards for the Cedar Meadow Kiosk has arrived. Shelly Garcia, fiscal officer is monitoring for the second delivery.
Vicki Wheatley shared that the Ottawa County Park District grant application was submitted.
Discussion regarding keeping up with the maintenance on the two tennis courts when finished as well as the pickleball courts has to be a priority.
Jack Madison bought posts to mark the path for mowing. Brad suggested we maintain mowing plan annually, keeping some boarders. Discussion about adding native wild flowers. Jack will get with Brad and Kevin when the time comes to share the mowing suggestions.
The parks board needs to be aware of the purchase of a screen and potential projector for the Community Hall. It should be easy enough for the public to use.
NEW BUSINESS:
Vicki Wheatley has shared that she has not started contacting speakers yet for the speaker series. Ideas regarding Billy Market – Miller Ferry Boat Line. Port Clinton Light House – Jordan Davenport. Bruce Buckingham – Owls. Suzy Wittenmyer – Butterfly walk.
Jack Madison thanked Matt Montowski for attending our meetings and being such a great support for our parks board. A discussion took place about how the Parks Board has evolved and taken on a greater responsibility over the years.
Adjournment: Vicki Wheatley made a motion to adjourn at 6:25 P.M. Brian Washburn seconded. Unanimously approved
