Catawba Island Township Park Board
Meeting Minutes for June 18, 2025

Call to Order:
The meeting was called to order at 6:00 P.M.

People Present:
Brian Washburn, Jack Madison, Dave Howell, Vicki Wheatley
Guest: Matt Montowski

Reading/Approval of Minutes:
The minutes from May 21, 2025 were read and approved.

Items Discussed:
Kiosk: Brad Schwan shared the draft of the kiosk panels. All reviewed the draft and liked what had been created. The drafts were approved to send on to the Township Trustees for approval before being sent to Jerry Davenport for completion. A request was made to include the Saw-Whet owl and correct any typos.

Matt Montowski will send the draft to the Township Trustees for review.

Matt Montowski also shared the email that Ellie Schiappa from Black Swamp Conservancy sent regarding the monitoring visit from June 15, 2025 at Cedar Meadow. She will be completing her report based on the items discussed during the visit.

Jack Madison suggested that Kevin Johnson and crew mow to continue the perimeter trail to the existing eastern trail at Cedar Meadow.

John Davenport and the Rotarians provided the labor for strips to be woven into the fence near the pickleball courts which are used for protection from the elements.

Jamie Kochensparger will be presenting Wednesday, June 25 at 6:00 at the Catawba Community Hall.

Our next speaker will be Brian Washburn on August 13, 2025.

Decisions Made:

Jack suggested we get an estimate from Jerry Davenport for an attachment to the Cedar Meadow sign that reads, Parking behind Fire Station.  The estimate will be provided to the Township Trustees for approval.

Adjournment:

Jack Madison made the motion to adjourn, Brian Washburn seconded.  All in favor, adjournment took place at 6:45 P.M.

Matt Montowski, Brian Washburn, Jack Madison, and Dave Howell proceeded to Cedar Meadow for a walkthrough.
