Meeting Minutes for October 15, 2025

Call to Order:
The meeting was called to order at 6:00 P.M.

People Present:
Jack Madison, Dave Howell, Brian Washburn, Vicki Wheatley, Brian Schwan
Guest: Matt Montowski

Reading/Approval of Minutes:
The minutes from August 20, 2025 were read and approved.

Items Discussed:
OLD BUSINESS: Discussed the success of the last two events, Brain Washburn’s presentation and the Fall Walk. Vicki Wheatley thanking all those involved, Howell Orchards for the donation of pumpkins, cider, and donuts, Brad Schwan’s monetary donation, and Brian Washburn’s demonstration of the fire department vehicles and equipment. Suggestions for speakers should be brought to Vicki Wheatley’s attention. Matt Montowski suggested that Billy Market would be a great speaker.

A path expansion at Cedar Meadow was discussed to extend the trail. Matt Montowski will ask Kevin Johnson to use the township equipment to cut a path through the south meadow.

Resident Suzy Wittenmyer suggested adding to the kiosk a white board or tempered glass where people who have walked the paths can come out and write what they saw and where they found it. Brad Schwan made a motion to recommend to the trustees to purchase two tempered glass boards not to exceed $150.00. Vicki Wheatley seconded, the motion approved unanimously.

NEW BUSINESS: The Historical Society suggested obtaining a large screen to be placed in the Community Hall for presentations. Vicki Wheatley will research.

The Ottawa County Park District has released the 2026 Grant. The Grant submission date is January 9. Vicki Wheatley made a motion to recommend to the trustees to apply for the 2026 Grant to restore the two tennis courts, the basketball court, and possibly a shuffle board court. Brian Washburn seconded, the motion approved unanimously.

Resident Ann Rumpf pointed out that there are some small expansion cracks forming in the pickleball courts, Brad Schwan will research.

Decisions Made:
Recommend to Trustees – purchase of boards to add to the Cedar Meadow kiosk, purchase of a screen for the community hall, and participate in the 2026 Ottawa County Park District Grant.

Adjournment: Vicki Wheatley made a motion to adjourn at 6:49 P.M., Dave Howell seconded. Unanimously approved
