CATAWBA ISLAND TOWNSHIP BOARD OF TOWNSHIP TRUSTEES
REORGANIZATIONAL  MEETING- DECEMBER 30, 2008

Chairman William Rofkar called the reorganizational meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. on December 30, 2008 in the conference room. In attendance: William Rofkar, Robert Schroeder, Gary Mortus, Pat Cerny, Herb Roder, Matt Montowski and Jack DeVore.

The sealed bids for the the 2000 Chevrolet 1 ton dump truck with plow were opened and read. Sealed bidders: Sam Conte, Lakecraft Corp., $5176.50; Richard Seckler, $7302.00; Herb Roder, EPG2, LLC, $15,505.00. William Rofkar stated that Judco’s market value is $18,000.00 and William stated he wanted at least $15,000.00 for the vehicle. Robert Schroeder made a motion to award the vehicle to the highest bid seconded by Gary Mortus. All voted aye.

Reorganizational Business:
William Rofkar, chairman, turned the meeting over to Fiscal Officer Pat Cerny to conduct the election of the Trustee positions. Robert Schroeder made a motion to keep the same Trustee positions and duties for the year 2009 seconded by Gary Mortus. Robert Schroeder aye; Gary Mortus, aye; William Rofkar, aye.

The business meetings will remain on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m.

Gary Mortus stated a meeting should be held in regard to the Dependents Board in the next few months. Gary Mortus made a motion to appoint Ron Bauman to the Dependents Board seconded by Robert Schroeder. All voted aye.

Cemetery rates for sites will remain the same. Pat Cerny will check on open/closing rates from the other townships. Community Hall will remain the same. The front room is $50.00 and rented only to Catawba residents. The entire hall is $300.00 plus $100.00 deposit for residents and non-residents.

Zoning rates will remain the same except for the rate for a floating home application which is a new addition in our zoning resolution. Gary Mortus made a motion to adopt the rate for a floating home/homes application at $1250.00 seconded by Robert Schroeder. Gary Mortus, aye; Robert Schroeder, aye, William Rofkar, aye.

Gary Mortus made a motion to reappoint Doug Blackburn to the Board of Zoning Appeals seconded by Robert Schroeder. All voted aye. Gary Mortus made a motion to reappoint Sandra Erwin as an alternate for one year to the Board of Zoning Appeals seconded by Robert Schroeder. All voted aye. Robert Schroeder made a motion to reappoint Patti Piacentino for a five year term on the Zoning Commission and William Moore as a five year term member to the Zoning Commission seconded by Gary Mortus. All voted aye.
Gary Mortus made a motion to continue with the IRS mileage rate of 55 cents per mile for out of township business seconded by Robert Schroeder. All voted aye.

Gary Mortus made a motion to approve a 2% wage increase to full-time employees for 2009 seconded by Robert Schroeder. All voted aye. Gary Mortus made a motion to increase Ted Day with a merit increase to $15.00 per hour for 2009 seconded by Robert Schroeder. All voted aye. Gary Mortus made a motion to approve a 2% wage increase for William Fritz seconded by William Rofkar. All voted aye.

Gary Mortus made a motion to approve temporary appropriations in the amount of $406,820.76 seconded by Robert Schroeder. All voted aye.

Gary Mortus made a motion to adjourn seconded by William Rofkar. Motion carried unanimously
