Minutes: December 9th, 2008

The regular business meeting of the Catawba Island Township Board of Trustees was called to order by chairman William Rofkar at 7:30 p.m. in the conference room beginning with the Pledge of Allegiance. In attendance were William Rofkar, Robert Schroeder, Gary Mortus, Pat Cerny, James Stouffer. John Smothers, Matt Montowski and James Profit.

Robert Schroeder made a motion to approve the minutes of the last meeting seconded by Gary Mortus. Motion carried unanimously. Gary Mortus made a motion to pay and approve the bills in the amount of $68,264.77 seconded by Robert Schroeder. Motion carried unanimously.

Correspondence included OTARMA Newsletter, Ottawa Soil and Water Conservation Newsletter, Ohio Department of Commerce regarding Time Warner Cable Application for a Video Service Authorization; David Brunkhorst , Ottawa County Engineer Mileage Certifications and appointment dates. Christmas Tree Recycling program, Joint Solid Waste District notification. Anthem stating Nexium will be covered by the township prescription plan beginning January 1, 2009. Ohio Insurance Services informing that the Anthem Group Life plan rate will stay the same. Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield stating we shall save up to $300.00 annually by having the billed premium automatically withdrawn from our account.

John Smothers stated he received a quote for a overhead garage door for the gator storage area for a price of $516.00 from JVS. John Smothers stated the Department of Agriculture has a good program for gypsy moths spraying at no cost. Gary Mortus stated he thinks all residents would have to sign off on the spraying if the State did the spraying. John will look into this further. The Trustees would also like to talk to the State in regard to the spraying.

Jim Stouffer thanked the Catawba Island Township Fire Department for their professional services.

Gary Mortus stated the reorganizational meeting will be Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. if all are in agreement.

William Rofkar would like to advertise the 2000 Chevrolet l ton dump truck in the newspaper. Bids will be opened and read publicly at the December 30, 2008 meeting.

Gary Mortus made a motion to adjourn seconded by Robert Schroeder. Motion carried unanimously. Meeting adjourned 8:03 p.m
