Items Discussed:

Old Business:
The Catawba Island Township Trustees have rescheduled The Equalis Group – Council of Government for purchasing for June 25, 2024.

The ribbon cutting for the Pickleball Courts will take place June 22, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Heigel Park. The Rotary Pickleball Tournament will begin at 11:00 A.M.

Kiosk – discussion surrounded that this is a must do and needs to get completed. If the original vendor cannot complete, we will need to look into other vendors who can complete the graphics for the kiosk.

Suggestion to have an upcoming parks board meeting at Cedar Meadow and invite the community.

New Business:

Speaker series information was provided by Vicki Wheatley. We are working on securing a date for Dr. Thomas who will provide a presentation on vintage boats.

In addition, the Catawba Island Historical Society would like to collaborate with the Catawba Island Parks Board by sharing upcoming dates of speakers and having a person and literature at each other’s events.

The next Catawba Island Historical Society event is October 9, 2024.

Jack Madison shared the Park District of Ottawa County has retained consultants to develop a wetlands plan that will be shared with the public. Jack also reported that the North Coast Inland Trail has been progressing well and received a 1.1 million-dollar grant to continue the project.

David Howell shared information about the handicapped launch area for canoes and kayaks as well as parking information at the Nehls Memorial Nature Preserve.

William Baker shared information about Port Clinton City School District children. He reported that there are 98 elementary school children and 103 secondary school children in attendance who reside in Catawba Island Township. William also shared that Catawba Island Township was voted as one of the top ten communities to retire in. William also posed a question as to having alternates on the Parks Board to avoid not having a quorum.

Decisions Made:

Select a date for a Parks Board meeting to be held as a Cedar Meadow walkthrough. Look at additional vendors to complete the kiosk graphics.

Adjournment:

David Howell made a motion to adjourn. Jack Madison seconded. Meeting adjourned at 6:47 P.M.
