Catawba Island Township Parks Board
Meeting Minutes for August 19, 2026

Call to Order:
The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m.

People Present: David Howell, Jack Madison, Brad Schwan, Emily Gibson

Reading/Approval of Minutes: Approved July 15th minutes.

Old Business:
• Discussed flowering dogwood by the farm equipment. Watered in.
• Tennis courts completed and painted/coated. Fences not strung yet.
• Basketball courts to be redone. Discussed whether they could use the same type of surface as the tennis courts, with snap-together material.
• Jack asked about portable nets on wheels. Get two initially. Brad to look into it.
• Whiteboard is in use. Second one to be used as backup. Brad showed pictures of it being used.
• Picnic table at Point Preserve
Brad talked to Kevin Johnson regarding accessibility and the need for a trash can as well.
He will pull a table from storage.
• Bench at pond at Point Preserve, both ends. Kevin suggested log seating and installed ones he built.
• Jack asked about using a “pond doctor” to clean the pond. Brad noted that it is a preserve. Dave will look into the pros and cons of treating it.
• Trail in Cedar Meadow Preserve
Mow in from current line. Trail will be put in.

New Business:
• New fire truck will be in by the Fall Walk.
• Fall Walk set for October 10.
• Marketing: flyers, guided tours. Brad to contact the guides.
Donuts, cider, and pumpkins, Howell Orchards to donate.
• Jack: Adding to Board?
