Meeting Minutes for April 17, 2024

Call to Order:

The meeting was called to order at 6:02 PM

People Present:

Brad Schwan, Jack Madison, Dave Howell, Vicki Wheatley, Brian Washburn
Guests: Matt Montowski, William Baker

Reading/Approval of Minutes:

The minutes were read. Brain Washburn made a motion to approve the minutes with a correction made, Dave Howell seconded. Minutes were approved

Old Business:
Vicki Wheatley shared that the next presentation for the speaker series will be with Bruce Buckingham. His presentation will be about his research and banding of the Lake Erie Seagulls on May 9, 2024 at 6:00 PM

Pickleball Courts – a letter was drafted by Brad Schwan and reviewed and updated by the prosecutor to release the contractor from any outstanding work and materials. The contractor signed the agreement and has been released from his obligation. The Township will have to purchase and install the remaining nets, posts, and tie downs. John Davenport suggested that a grand opening/ribbon cutting be held on June 22 before the Pickleball Tournament. Brad Schwan was contacted to see if he knew of a tournament director.

Brad estimated that refurbishing the tennis courts would be between $16,000 and $18,000

Matt Montowski shared information about a coop purchase where the township can become a member of. It is Equalis Group – Council of Government for purchasing. They will complete repairs however not new construction. A representative will give a presentation at the next Township meeting.

Kiosk – Brad Schwan shared the outside boxes that will be attached to the kiosk which will hold the brochures. Efforts to reach Jerry Davenport have not been successful. The parks board members are looking for advice on what is needed from Jerry to complete the kiosk.

Community Garden – Brad Schwan received a text that the CIT Garden Club is going to pass on the cooperative agreement to create a community garden.

David Howell shared pictures/story that are included in the Nehl’s storybook trail. David also shared pictures of a handicapped accessible boat ramp. David also brought in Morel mushrooms that he found on his property.

Discussion about the PTU Soccer Program and the lack of space due to the growth of the program. The potential to realign Heigle Park area for more space will be talked about at the next Trustee meeting.

Vicki Wheatley made a motion to adjourn, Jack Madison seconded. Motion approved and the meeting was adjourned at 6:56 PM
